Album Cover “El Sueño Divino” can be described as collaboration between this young American Jazz singer and some of the best and brightest stars in modern Cuban Music today.

At the heart of this collaboration stands arranger Juan Manual Cerruto. Garcia met Ceruto in Cuba where he lives and works. She came to know his work through Issac Delgado--a top selling modern Cuban salsa singer--who is quite famous internationally and whose music Garcia loves. After meeting Delgado, Garcia was introduced to Ceruto and his colleague, Joaquin Betancourt, who arranged several songs on the record. These artists are very well known internationally and have their hand in many of the top selling records from Cuba.

The record has a very wide emotional range and reflects themes of spirituality and passion. Garcia is also strongly influenced by Brazilian music--something she shares with the Cuban Composer, Gerardo Alfonso, who wrote three songs on this record. Garcia interprets these songs with beautiful feminine lyricism, and brings a touch of irony to the music with an American feminism that is not commonly heard in Latin music.

Another strong feminine musical influence comes from one of the record's pianists and co-producers, Yanet Salinas Gonzales. Gonzales works with the female salsa orchestra, Anacaona. Members of this group participated in the record as well.

Nika does not sing with the attack of a typical Cuban salsa singer but she brings her own phrasing and power to this music and creates a smoother, and original, sound.

The songs range in style from pop to pure Cuban salsa, from Afro-Cuban-folk to ballads. The record is a piece of art in its own class; strong, interesting, fun to listen to, and even to sing along with. This project took four years to complete and is currently being considered by various labels for international distribution.
